Oh here's a thought...

And I've mentioned this in the past. Tiburon should be a CTP for the whole Delphi community to view and provide feedback on. And if you think it shouldn't and should remain restricted to the few elite named Field Testers, give me a good reason why.

At least for SA customers, they are buying anyway. Most of them. I think.

Regarding your statements in the linked post:
1. You're right about this.
2. This is already being done for the field tests.
3. I have heard about a few reasons, the most significant one being SOX.
4. I do not think CodeGear is so much afraid of that. Not many vendors can or want to compete with their Delphi IDE, and probably no NDA will stop companies like Microsoft. Furthermore, the Lazarus project was mainly inspired by the VCL source code which is freely available (read the discussions on Steve Trefethen's blog for more information).
5. Maybe you're right.
6. Do not underestimate this. Many resources are taken by evaluating bug reports, and I doubt that more reports will improve the product quality. Most problems with Delphi are discovered either by CodeGear itself or the part of the field test users that takes bug reporting serious. For anyone who does, signing the NDA should not be a problem.
7. Again, don't underestimate this. Releasing a public field test for a product like Delphi will primarily provide an occasion to sneak a peek for many newbie users or fanboys, not broader the base for serious testing. Anyone who is interested can contact CodeGear about the field test. I think they should not remove this treshold.

However, I think CodeGear should further promote the field test, e.g. in the newsgroups and in the popular forums.

Regarding SOX, it's become such a safety net for everything. I don't want to mention any specific company, but I don't see other public companies having issues with releasing CTP's.

Regarding incorrect bug reports, I don't agree. The QA department should have the knowledge and experience to skim thru and prioritize reports and act as first filter. Again, I refer to my original post: a hidden bug isn't any good.
